My son and I were part of your tour at the Resort last Monday. First and foremost, I wanted to thank you for our amazing experience - you and Geri are doing really wonderful work!
The tour consists of a brief history of the Manor house then reported ghosts that are at the Manor house and surrounding grounds. The Manor house is the oldest building on the premises and is over 250 years old. The tour costs $15 . You can sign up or call for reservations witth the activities department of the resort. There were about 40 people on the tour. It is extremely popular. It was an excellent tour.
After about an hour tour of almost the entire house (except the very top floor and basement), youi get a real appreciation of the house because it is over 250 years old. Naturally , if there are ghosts , they would reside in an old house like this.
What set this tour apart from so many I have been on was the equipment they we were allowed to use after the tour and we could tour the house with the equipment on our own. We could use it on the grounds surrounding the Manor house too. The guided tour of the house lasts for about an hour as you tour most of the house and then you are given an explanation on how to use some of the same ghost hunting gadgets that you see on tv. Many of them are regular items you can pick up online or even at lowes. If you have never used a "voice box or ghost " box then get ready cause it can get creepy. This piece of equipment looks like a little hand held radio but it scans radio signals at about 6 frequencies a second. The ghosts must manipulate it to speak words to answer your questions. Thje other piece of equipment that was a hit was a little flashlite that would come on or go off depending on your question. In a darkened room with 3 other people we would ask a question and the light would come on. At the same time using the voice box, the word light was spoken through the voice box and all of us heard it. Just creepy.
Leave the travel channel with their ghost hunters alone and go check out David Flowers and Geri Pritchard at the Historic Powhatan Resort. They have a Manor House on property that just might make your hair stand on ends. The Manor house dates back to colonial times. David and Geri tell you about the property and the difference Paranormal activity that happens on the property. While doing so they teach you about different ghost hunting devices that they have and let you use them as well free of charge at the end of tour. My wife and I have taken the tour many times and have always had some type of experience. So when in the Williamsburg area, go stay at the resort and check them out. While there say hello to Mr. Tolliver, Mary, Elizabeth, and Tom they just might say hello back in some way. Oh, bring a camera or your phone, but put it on airplane mode and take pics. Because as David says if you don't have the proof then it's just a really cool story.
